If you struggle with depression, stress, and anxiety, you know how difficult it can be to change. You have tried everything you can think of to manage these distressing states, but the struggle continues and you begin to blame yourself, thinking, "It must be me!"
Perhaps you have struggled to manage difficult emotions through emotional eating or other compulsive patterns, only to end up frustrated, demoralized, and ashamed. You have read all the books. You have tried therapy. Nothing seems to "stick."
Distressing emotions, along with the challenges they create in feeling good about ourselves, can be difficult to manage . . . but with the right tools, it is NOT impossible! But how does it work? Does this sound too good to be true? The fact is, real change takes time. It takes intentionality. But it does not have to be painful.
We will start by getting to know your story…your personal history. We will begin to explore your feeilngs and patterns and how they make sense (yes, make sense!) in the context of your life story. We do this by looking at your story and your patterns with respect and curiosity. We will put on our “detective hats” together to explore and understand these patterns.
Once we know how depression, stress, anxiety, and compulsive patterns play out in your life, we will begin to craft an approach that suits your needs. There is no “one size fits all” approach to healing our relationship with ourself. Some clients need to spend time exploring their history in depth in order to develop insight…some clients want to jump right in and work on changing their patterns. Most clients will need a bit of both...but we will work on this balance together.
My approach is based in mindfulness- and compassion-informed therapies. These methods incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC).
I understand that life can be busy and it's not always easy to make it to in-person therapy sessions. That's why I offer teletherapy services that allow you to connect with me from the comfort of your own home. Our teletherapy sessions are secure, private, and convenient.
Note that at this time I offer strictly teletherapy.
